Our Mission and Vision Statement and General Objectives


Our mission is :
to make disciples of Jesus Christ
to proclaim the good news
to increase opportunities for worship
to create and exploit points of entry
to make our facilities available to the community
to be examples of Christian living
to expand opportunities for fellowship
to emphasize the importance of Christian religious education
to provide Bible study opportunities for all ages.


Our vision is to make vibrant, thinking, serving disciples of Jesus Christ.

General Objectives

With this vision we intend to establish goals and develop programs to achieve the following general objectives:

Reaching and receiving people-                                   

  • increase opportunities for worship                               
  • explore alternative styles of worship
  • create and exploit points of entry; for example, hot meals, children's      center, Lincoln- Central Neighborhood Family Center and Buchanan Counseling
  • continue to make our facilities available to the community
  • support the Volunteers in Medicine Clinics
  • announce our programs and activities to the public

Relating people to God-

  • cultivate excellence in preaching and teaching
  • be examples of Christian living  

Nurturing people in the faith-

  • emphasize the importance of Christian religious education by providing a time for church school apart from worship services
  • continue to expand opportunities for fellowship
  • continue excellent music presentations as part of worship services
  • provide Bible study opportunities for all ages at times other than the church school hour
  • provide Lenten study classes and suppers

Sending people forth in God's world-

  • support a mission on each continent
  • encourage and assist young people to attend seminary or other avenues of Christian service
  • continue to support work camps
  • continue to support Housing Partnerships
