Be You, New Event for Girls Coming June 12th (details below)
Sunday School
Sunday School classes are offered for children and youth of all ages, at 10:10 a.m. The focus of these classes is age-appropriate religious education that engages children and youth in their growth as children of God. Class schedules are available each week on the website, in the weekly bulletin, monthly Spire, the bulletin boards near the elevator on the 3rd floor, and this link to class information.
Download a Sunday School registration form on the PARENT link above.

Nursery
A nursery is available for children birth - age 3, from 8:45am-12:15pm on Sunday mornings in Room 311.
A Baby Comfort Area (located down stairs from the Narthex) is a place of hospitality for parents who find themselves with unhappy infants/toddlers in worship. Speakers broadcast the worship service, and rocking chairs, a changing table and toys are available for your comfort. Please visit the Welcome Center for directions to the Baby Comfort Area. Rocking chairs and changing tables are also available in room 311 as well as the women’s bathroom on the lower level, near the elevator.

Children in Worship

Children are welcome to stay in the sanctuary during worship.

A special bulletin, colored pencils, an etch-a-sketch® and other items are available at the front entrance or from an Usher.

Children’s Moment - A designated time is set aside during the worship service for children of all ages to come forward for a special time to talk about the sermon, scripture or theme. After children’s moment, children can choose to return to their seats with their parents or go to Christian Connections or childcare, as available.

Christian Connections - Children sometimes aren’t ready for a full worship experience. That’s why we have “Christian Connections”. Children spend the first portion of the worship service with their parents, then can choose to stay in worship after the Children’s Moment or can attend this fun child-centered time to learn more about Christian values (for the younger ones) & explore worship in a fun way (for the older ones). Your child will experience the love of Jesus through various activities including videos, the arts, laughter, prayer, worship and more.

Communion - Children are always welcome to stay in worship with their parents, and Communion Sundays are no different. If a child chooses to attend Christian Connections on Communions Sunday (the 1st Sunday of each month) Communion will be offered in the class. Click on "What We Believe" for more information on what FUMC believes about Communion and children.

Acolytes & Crucifers
First Church continues the Christian practice of processing the cross and flame each week in traditional worship (9:00). This ministry is performed each week by our children in 2nd-6th Grades.

Bibles for 2nd graders
Each fall FUMC presents our 2nd graders with their own Bibles! We then spend a few weeks learning how to use our Bibles during Sunday school. If your child is in 2nd grade or higher and has not received a Bible from FUMC, please contact the Children's Ministry office to request one.

VBS
We believe that the great experience of VBS isn’t just for summer vacations! In addition to our summer VBS, we also have a Christmas Vacation Bible School held during Christmas Vacation week. Children ages 3-6th grade are invited to attend VBS events!

 Parent’s Night Out
Parents enjoy a night out & kids enjoy a night of fun at these periodic fun nights filled with Veggie Tales movies, games, songs & more. Look for dates on our website & in the monthly Spire.

Operation Overboard VBS to feed the masses!

This year at Vacation Bible School we are excited to do things a bit differently. For the past several years various groups in the church have provided meals for the volunteers and their children as a way to make volunteering easier and as a thank you for their service. This year two volunteers have stepped up to do something a bit more radical: We will feed ALL who attend VBS this year - not just the volunteers! In order to make this new way of doing ministry a success we will need your help! Donations, meal servers and cooks will be needed. If you are interested in learning how you can be a part of this exciting new aspect of VBS please contact Sharon Stark or Sara Dunlap or Sarah Campbell. They are excited to take VBS to a new level and hope you will join them!

Be-You-tiful

If a mom cannot attend but the young girl would like to attend please note that on the registration. Contact Sarah Campbell to learn more - scampbell@fumccolumbus.org, 372-2851.
