The Care Ministry of First United Methodist Church encompasses several important areas, focusing on three major aspects on a daily basis: Care Teams, Grief Share, and VIP's and their caregivers.  With generous support from fellow staff members and the congregation we put forth substantial time and effort to ensure that the aging of our congregation, those with health concerns, and the entire membership as a whole, are well attended to.
We want to ensure that no one falls through the cracks.

Never Too Late!

Have you heard about a great service called Never Too Late?

The mission of this organization is to bring hope and joy to the lives of the elderly by helping to make life wishes come true! Driving a race car, seeing an old friend from 60 years ago, getting a new walker with wheels . . . there are many categories of wishes and many people ready and able to turn them into realities!

Our congregation has a real heart for senior adults and their care, so the work of Never Too Late might speak to the hearts of many who hear of it.  Folks from Columbus have already benefited from the work of this organization.

If you know of senior adults who might have unfulfilled wishes, feel free to contact Never Too Late at 317-823-4705.

Care Teams

Care Team is a group of volunteers working together to offer practical, emotional, and spiritual support to individuals and families with health care concerns, or other special needs.

Team members simply do what they can when they can - with an organized approach.  The team concept provides volunteers with a built-in support system, time flexibility, and the opportunity to offer a variety of skills.  This shared support and flexibility is what makes this approach unique.

Care Teams may provide:

  • meals
  • transportation
  • help with yard work, mowing, etc.
  • visit with or phone family members
  • give the caregiver a much needed respite

An orientation meeting is required before you may join a Care Team.

We will form several teams from the individuals who volunteer their gifts.
Prayerfully consider what gift you might share. You will be blessed!
