Karen
Johnson, Director
- Director - Karen has been the Director at LTS since 1995! She
has a background in elementary education, with a master's degree
in early childhood education. Prior to becoming our director,
Karen has been a 1st grade public school teacher, and a pre-k
teacher here at the school.
Amy
Terry, Assistant Director -
Assistant Director- Amy began teaching at Learning Tree in 1999,
and became the Assistant Director in 2001. She has a background
of 10 years previous teaching experience as well as a master's
degree in education. This has been her favorite school to work
in and all three of her children have attended Learning Tree
School!
Clare
Bozell, Assistant
Teacher in Oaks class - Clare has been with LTS since 2001. She
attended IU and Purdue and has 2 sons. Clare is actively involved
in her sons' sporting events year round, and also volunteers
at their schools. Clare enjoys seeing former students and watching
adults as they interact and having fun with the children at school.
Collette Brokella, Lead Teacher in Redbuds class
- Collette joined our LTS teaching staff in 2008 after moving
to Columbus. She brings with her teaching experiences in elementary
schools as well as 2 daughters who now attend Learning Tree!
Karen
Burke, Assistant
Teacher in Tulips and Pines - Karen worked as an R.N. prior to
joining LTS in 1997. She is currently working towards her CDA
at Ivy Tech. Karen has 4 children.
Kelly
Cull, Teacher
Assistant in Willows class- Kelly has been with LTS since 2006.
Kelly is a graduate of Columbus North High School and has a dental
assisting license. She has 4 children, all of whom attended Learning
Tree School.
Christy
Drake, Lead Teacher
in Oaks class- Christy has been with LTS since 2003. She attended
Indiana University, and received her CDA from Ivy Tech. She has
9 years of previous preschool teaching experience. Christy has
4 children, 2 of whom attended LTS. Christy enjoys reading and
working with the teenagers at her church.
Tammy Glenn, Assistant Teacher in Dogwoods
class - Tammy had been an assistant in the Dogwoods class for
several years and was an aide at Southside Elementary school
prior to returning to LTS in 2008. She has 2 boys and enjoys
going to sporting events. Tammy loves the fact that she has been
referred to by her students as "a genius" and "a
Disney princess"!
Carrie
Green, Assistant
Teacher in Redbuds class - Carrie has been at Learning Tree School
since 2007, with a background in substitute teaching as well
as a degree in microbiology. She says she like to think of the
children in her classroom as little scientists, exploring the
world and making new discoveries. One of her favorite quotes
is "Imagine
Dream
Believe
Achieve!"
Cathy
Hughes, Lead
Teacher in Dogwoods class - Cathy has been a teacher at LTS since
1993! Cathy has her CDA and an Associate Degree in Early Childhood
Education. She is a member of the NAEYC and attends the local
conference each year. She recently attended a summer institute
at Indiana University for educating and supporting individuals
across the autism spectrum. She loves to read children's books,
and believes vocabulary increases when children actively engage
in discussions and activities before, during and after the read-aloud.
Cathy likes to think of herself not only as a teacher, but as
a provider of meaningful experiences that builds on and extends
children's understanding of the world.
Gayle
Kelley, Lead
Teacher in Tulips class - Gayle has been with Learning Tree since
2000, and is currently working towards her Associate degree in
Early Childhood Education. Gayle is a member of FUMC. She has
3 children, all of whom attended LTS.
Cathy
King, Lead Teacher
in Pines and Maples classes- Cathy joined LTS in 2007, and comes
to us with a Bachelor degree in elementary education. She has
taught several classes in the public school system, ranging from
Kindergarten to 5th grade. In the summer of 2008, Cathy attended
a Graduate class at Indiana University in Positive Discipline.
Cathy has 3 sons and is a member of FUMC.
Joanna
Nida, Lead Teacher
in Sycamores class - Joanna joined LTS in 2005. She is working
towards her Associate degree in Early Childhood Education at
Ivy Tech. Joanna has 3 children and came to LTS with several
years of teaching experience. Joanna says she feels right at
home with a class full of little ones, she is the 12th of 13
children in her family and has 71 nieces and nephews!
Tammy
Tucker, Teacher
Assistant in Sycamores class - Tammy joined LTS in 2007. It was
her first year back in the profession that she loves, after taking
time off to spend with her 2 sons. She attended Lakeland Community
College in Ohio, majoring in Early Childhood Education, and came
to us with 10 years of previous preschool experience.
Lois
Wishmeier, Teacher
Assistant in Maple and Tulips classes - Lois joined our teaching
team in 1995! She has had several CDA classes. Lois enjoys that
former students come back and tell memories of fun times such
as making pumpkin pie out of real pumpkins and the fun of rolling
that crust. She says those fond memories shared by those students
help her to see that she has touched their lives. |
