Our Director Team

Karen Johnson, Director - Director - Karen has been the Director at LTS since 1995! She has a background in elementary education, with a master's degree in early childhood education. Prior to becoming our director, Karen has been a 1st grade public school teacher, and a pre-k teacher here at the school.

Amy Terry, Assistant Director - Assistant Director- Amy began teaching at Learning Tree in 1999, and became the Assistant Director in 2001. She has a background of 10 years previous teaching experience as well as a master's degree in education. This has been her favorite school to work in and all three of her children have attended Learning Tree School!

Gayle Kelley, Extended Care Coordinator - Gayle has been with Learning Tree since 2000, and is currently working towards her Associate degree in Early Childhood Education. Gayle is a member of FUMC. She has 3 children, all of whom attended LTS. In addition to her teaching role, Gayle also oversees our extended care activities.

 

Our Teaching Team

LuAnn Burt, Lead Teacher Oaks class. Bachelor degree in Child Development. Had experience working at Riley Children's Hospital and currently works with children at the Kids Commons.

Cathy Hughes, Lead Teacher in Dogwoods class - Cathy has been a teacher at LTS since 1993! Cathy has her CDA and an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. She is a member of the NAEYC and attends the local conference each year. She recently attended a summer institute at Indiana University for educating and supporting individuals across the autism spectrum. She loves to read children's books, and believes vocabulary increases when children actively engage in discussions and activities before, during and after the read-aloud. Cathy likes to think of herself not only as a teacher, but as a provider of meaningful experiences that builds on and extends children's understanding of the world.

Toni Perry, Lead Teacher Willows class - Toni has four children and has bee a LTP mom. Toni is currently taking classes in early childhood education and enjoys our youngest group of preschoolers.

Tammy Tucker, Lead Teacher in Sycamores class - Tammy joined LTS in 2007. It was her first year back in the profession that she loves, after taking time off to spend with her 2 sons. She attended Lakeland Community College in Ohio, majoring in Early Childhood Education, and came to us with 10 years of previous preschool experience. Tammy recently completed her child development associate credentials.
