WILLOWS - walking 1 year olds

Teachers: Toni Perry

In the Willows class we try to work on development of fine and gross motor skills. We have a coloring activity or craft daily based on each child's age and abilities. We also listen to music and have an opportunity for reading daily.

Sycamores - 2 - 3 year olds

Teachers: Tammy Tucker

The Sycamore class prepares the children for later preschool classes, focusing on skills that include: fine motor development such as correctly holding a pencil and tracing, gross motor development, color, shape and their own name recognition. A large focus is placed on socialization, as this is often the child's first experience away from home. This is the youngest class at LTS to take field trips throughout the year.

Tulips - 2 year olds

Teachers - Gayle Kelley

The Tulips class uses creative art as a process for learning, through painting and other sensory experiences. We focus on early literacy and have story time every day. We work on pre-concepts of math and science, and large motor skill refinement through music, dance and free play. We work on social and emotional skills, helping these young children to choose words to communicate their feelings. This class has fun while learning and making friends.

Dogwoods - 3 year olds

Teachers: Cathy Hughes

In the Dogwoods class, we start our day with free play time in all of our centers in the room, allowing children to adjust to their new environment. This time gives children an excellent opportunity to develop language, social skills, motor control, and sensory awareness. Art is offered daily as well as fine motor activities. We have a snack, sing about the calendar and weather and learn about the changing seasons. The children enjoy large muscle development through organized games and free play. During circle time we hear stories, finger plays, creative movement, math activities and/or music. Our circle time is learning time, each discussion is presented to expand the children's understanding of the weekly theme, in a fun way!

Oaks - Pre-K

Teachers: LuAnn Burt
